A Draughtsman is the person who works in conjunction with an Engineer or Architect to create and conceptualize drawings using specific computer drawing software, for structural steel, buildings, mechanical or other detailed technical plans or drawings.

Introduction

This 2 year course is aimed at learners who have passed Matric with the minimum requirements to be accepted for a Certificate programme, and wish to qualify with an International qualification in designing and preparing computer generated technical drawings and 3D visuals for architects, engineers and manufacturers. Earning this Certificate will qualify the learner for jobs such as an Architectural Draughtsman.*

002 Drawing Office Introduction The aim of this module is to introduce learners to the terminologies and structure of the average drawing office environment
003 Draughting Programmes The aim of this module is to introduce learners to the everyday computer programmes used by Draughtsman
004 General Draughting The aim of this module is to introduce learners to the basics of technical drawing and draughting techniques and concepts
005 Pictorial Draughting The aim of this module is to introduce learners to basic technical drawings, either sketched freehand or made with drawing instruments
006 Project Management This module teaches basic project management skills, and introduces the learner to the use of various automated project management tools specifically for the I.T field. They will be able to plan and manage projects from start to finish efficiently, manage time, information dissemination, allocation of team job roles etc
007 Building Draughting This module will give the learners an understanding of draughting for buildings and architecture
008 Mechanical Draughting This module will give the learners an understanding of draughting for mechanical projects
009 Electrical Draughting This module will give the learners an understanding of draughting for electrical layouts and projects
010 Structural Steel Detailing This module aims to teach learners to prepare detailed plans, drawings and other documents for the manufacture and erection of steel members (columns, beams, braces, trusses, stairs, handrails, joists, metal decking, etc.) used in the construction of buildings, bridges, industrial plants, and non-building structures
011 Piping Draughting This module aims to teach learners how to design and detail piping layouts
012 3D Printing This module aims to teach learners how to design for 3D printing of models
